Preschool Gymnastics
We begin training young gymnasts as early as 18 months in a Parent & Tot program called “Sidekicks.” Until the age of 2, toddlers enhance their gross motor skills through lively exercise and games - emphasizing listening, taking instruction and participating in group activities. Sidekicks is a fun-filled way to introduce your toddler to gymnastics in a safe, dynamic environment!
From the ages of 3 to 4, your youngster will participate in “Rising Stars.” During these 45 minute classes, children are independent of their parent, working with the coach and their fellow gymnasts to enhance their gross and fine motor skills while beginning to drill the basics of gymnastics. Rising Stars work on flexibility, coordination, and strength all in the colorful confines of our new Pre-School Gym!
When your child graduates from the preschool gym, he/she is ready to be a “Super Star.” During these 55 minute classes, 4 and 5 year olds follow a curriculum similar to our Developmental Program but with smaller class sizes. Super Stars work on flexibility, coordination, and strength in the “big kid” gym located at Alamo Gymnastics Center!
At the age of 5, young athletes enroll in our Developmental Program which takes place in the original – Alamo Gymnastics Center. Here our school age children start taking 55 minute classes beginning with a warm up and stretch followed by event rotations; ending with strength and endurance training (and sometimes a few precious minutes in the Marshmallow Pit!).
Confused about whether your 5 year old belongs in a Super Star class or a developmental class, one of our coaches or front desk associates would love to help.
Not sure whether your child would enjoy dance or preschool gymnastics, we’ve got the class for you. Our “Movements” class will introduce the best of both worlds to you 2-3 year old. The first 30 minutes of the class, your preschool will learn the basics of gymnastics. After a short water break, the kids will put on their shoes and focus on ballet and creative movement.
