Our Developmental Program follows the guidelines of USA Gymnastics in training and skill progressions.  This progress is charted by the coaches and is used to promote gymnasts to more challenging levels.  A beginner will enroll as a Level I Bronze student in the age-appropriate division and successively move to Level I Silver, then Gold followed by Level II Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc.  Due to the individual nature of the sport, students will advance at various intervals based on skill completion for their respective level or sub-level.  Factors include but are not limited to: strength, flexibility, innate talent and regular class attendance.

Alamo Coaches are trained to watch for exceptional talent, ability and work ethic in Developmental Classes.  Upon spotting these traits, coaches may approach a parent to recommend a trial for a more advanced Pre-Team or Team Program.  At this point a Team Coach will evaluate the athlete’s potential for a more rigorous and rewarding training regiment!

Once a gymnast is selected for the Team Program and the family decides to participate, the investment in time, energy, finance and all around commitment increase significantly as do the rewards!
Alamo has produced well over 3,000 Junior Olympians, taking top team awards at local, district and state championships.  We have had over 25 gymnasts on Regional or National Teams with 11 going on to compete in NCAA Gymnastics at eight major universities.  Four of these athletes were NCAA “All Americans” with two members on National Championship Teams.  With three nominations for the Nissen-Emery Award we are also proud to have one AGC Alumnus who has taken the title of top gymnast in the nation!
