If your child uses your couch as a stage, sign them up for the Alamo Showcase meet.  This meet will allow our class kids time to perform and shine in front of our competitive team coaches.  Alamo's team  coaches will judge the boys and girls as they perform routines and rotate through all the events in a meet format.

Alamo couldn't contain the fun any longer.  We now offer birthday party packages available for Saturday and Sunday.  Our parties run at 2:00, 4:00, and 6:00 on Saturday and 11:00, 1:00, 3:00, and 5:00 on Sunday.  Give us a call at 210-479-8282.  We would love to answer  any questions you have and check on available times..  Hurry...our parites book up fast.

The countdown begins till summer vacation! 

Read on to learn about the new and exciting programs that will be offered at Alamo this summer

 

Going on an extended vacation …. for your convenience,Alamo offers 2 summer sessions. 

Session 1: June 4th- July 14th (Closed July 2nd-July 7th)

Session 2: July 16th- August 25th.

 

Alamo Showcase Meet: On June 2nd Alamo will be hosting a meet for our developmental gymnasts.  Now is your chance for your kids to show off their skills in front of the competitive coaches.  The entrance fee is $30 and will include an outfit for this event.

 

Summer camp is expending!  In addition to our popular Adventure Day Camp, Alamo now offers Olympic Camp.  Olympic Camp includes  gymnastics instruction in the morning and afternoon as well as crafts, movies and swimming.  Adventure Camp and Olympic Camp begin on June 4th and run all summer long.  Half day camp is available on request.

 

Summer Swim: Alamo’s swim classes begin in June. The kids can splash around in the pool by signing up for swim lessons, day camp or birthday parties.  Call for class schedule, private lessons and seminars.

 

Summer Birthdays:  If your Saturdays are booked up till November, Alamo now offers birthday party packages on Saturday and Sunday.  Decisions, decisions… do you choose a gymnastics or swimming party.

Beyond Ping Pong

- Training classes for kids of any age -

 

Do you want your child - or yourself - to get an early start - or an additional boost - towards enjoying the fun and spirit of the sociable, life-long, affordable, healthful, recreational, Olympic sport of table tennis? If so, read on . . . .
 

WHAT: An 18-weeks table tennis coaching / training class, actually two separate, distinct classes for: 1) beginners and 2) intermediates
 

WHEN: From January 24 through June 2, 2012 at

1) 4 PM Tuesdays (beginners) or

     2) 11 AM Saturdays (intermediates)

 

WHO: 1) Tuesdays: Beginners of any age but with focus on children, ages 6 - 9 years and older.

2) Saturday: Intermediates of any age but with focus on kids and adults who already have at least some experience playing table tennis.
 

WHERE: In the spacious table tennis rooms at Alamo Fitness Center - rooms equipped with up to nine tournament grade tables and accessories. Loaner paddles (rackets) are available for those who don't have their own equipment.

 

REGISTER: Enrollment is limited. The Spring 2012 table tennis program is a joint project between Alamo Gymnastics/Fitness Center and San Antonio Table Tennis Club. HOW: Coaching / training sessions will be supervised and conducted by experienced, certified table tennis coaches who are active, long time members of San Antonio Table Tennis Club, led by coach Gloria Cadavid (Tuesday beginners) and coach Clark Nicholl (Saturday intermediates) and assisted by other members of the San Antonio Table Tennis club.
 

OVERVIEW: Following is an overview of the Tuesday beginners class, to be modified as needed (especially regarding the Saturday intermediates), depending on the characteristics of each class once enrollment is complete.

 

Each session will start with a warm up time. A concept will be introduced followed by a fun activity to practice the concept including, when appropriate, practice at the table. Achievement and skill awards will be given periodically.
 

CONCEPTS: The grip / Ready Position / Foot work / Service / Return of serve / Forehand drive / Backhand drive / Forehand push / Backhand push / Scoring / Playing a match 
 

FUN ACTIVITIES: Bouncer / Ball balance / Table tennis relay / Mirror footwork / Balloon forehand / Balloon backhand / Wall table tennis

Preschoolers and a parent are invited to our new preschool open gym.  Bring the kids to the "big kid" gym on Mondays from 10:30-11:30.  Cost is $5 at the door.
