What's New!

It's official! Our new building, Alamo Athletic Center, is now open and running classes as well as providing access to the adult fitness center and pool. Please check out Services page for descriptions of classes offered and the Schedules page for a listing of class times.

The ten-year anniversary of Alamo Gymnastics Center (AGC) is highlighted by expansion. Expansion in the number of programs offered, in the number of gymnasts participating, and in the inclusion of parents into new adult aerobic, cardio and social activities. At the forefront of this triad is the effort to enhance better sibling/parent relationships through joint athletic activities. Our new 12,000 square foot Family Fitness Center promotes coordinated sibling/parent activities that allow individuals to build on family orientated experiences. AGC has recognized, that in a fast moving world where both parents assume the income responsibilities for family security and advancement, there is a sacrifice in home life and in the traditional sibling/parent development. Providing an environment for needed family athletic activities; using sibling/parent participation and the observation of each other as a means of self-motivation; and making available adult/child communication opportunities, either while in transit or during workouts summarize the objectives of our new facility. For those who take advantage, such activities/programs allow dedicated family time that develops intimate domestic bonds that will last a lifetime.

Alamo Gymnastics Center began operations in April 1998. Three corporate goals and three gymnastic goals were set.  To be a contributing member of corporate society, to serve with distinction the constituencies associated with AGC and to provide an ideal work place, job security and benefits to employees summarizes the corporate objectives. To generate gymnasts who are fit, confident and emotional well-balanced, to develop a class curriculum that provides an enjoyable and beneficial experience, and to develop a team program that will enable gymnasts to achieve their greatest potential through competition at the state, regional, national and international levels summarizes the gymnastics goals.

As of December of 2007 over 32,000 children and young adults have been a part of the AGC programs with approximately 2,800 students having been part of the Junior Olympic Team Program. AGC presently competes over 100 Level 4 through Level 10 boy and girl competitive gymnasts, the highest number in our 10-year history. We have recently upgraded the Developmental and Rising Star Programs to provide better opportunities for all to advance into the competitive Junior Olympic Program. Numerous team members have finished first in local, state, regional and national meets. In the last half of 2007, our girl’s team finished first in Level 6 South State and our Level 5 girls won first in District Championships. Over the years, twenty-three gymnasts have been a part of regional or national teams with 10 going on to participate as NCAA gymnastics at eight major universities. Four have become NCAA “All Americans.” Two of our alumni have participated on two different NCAA teams that were National Champions. Two of AGC’s Alumni were nominated and became finalist (top six NCAA gymnasts in the nation) for the Nissen-Emery Award with one being picked by coaches and fellow gymnasts as the top NCAA gymnast in the US.

We are excited about our future. Our new building next door is home to our very successful pre-school program and day-camp program. New major programs in youth swimming and adult fitness and dance are available. Additional programs in youth cheer will be introduced. Families can also take advantage of specialty areas: a computer area with Internet access, a game room, a party/movie/study room, and a tanning room. Adult programs in ballroom and country/western dance as well as cooking classes will be included over time. Family involvement, with our student/gymnast coming first, is our goal.  Each program in our new building is designed to give the parent an opportunity to participate in an activity while their child is involved in a class. We invite all to join us in the passion, joy and love of sport that is the undercurrent of all programs at Alamo Gymnastics Center.
